The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has expressed optimism about strengthening electoral processes in Ondo State following the appointment of Dr. Mutiu Olaleke Agboke as the new Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC).
According to a statement issued by the INEC Ondo State Administrative Secretary, Tadese Adenike, Dr. Agboke officially resumed duties on Monday.
INEC described the new REC as a seasoned professional with extensive experience in election management and legal practice.
The Commission noted that his appointment signals the beginning of a new phase in electoral administration in the state.
The statement further highlighted that Agboke, an indigene of Abeokuta, was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2006. He previously served with the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission between 2012 and 2016.
He has also held similar roles across Ondo, Oyo, and Osun states, where he supervised the conduct of the 2019 and 2023 general elections.
INEC emphasised that Agboke’s track record of integrity, transparency, and professionalism is expected to boost public confidence and ensure the delivery of credible, free, and fair elections in Ondo State.
