Lagos Agrinnovation has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering young people in the agribusiness sector by equipping them with the knowledge, tools, and networks needed to succeed.

Through a series of impactful events and initiatives, the platform continues to promote innovation and support sustainable growth within Lagos State’s agricultural ecosystem.

Speaking at a recent gathering, the Lagos State Commissioner for Agriculture, Abisola Olusanya, commended the resilience and progress of young agripreneurs. She noted that many have continued to evolve and improve, positioning agribusiness as a viable pathway for economic diversification and youth empowerment.

Olusanya reiterated the state government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment that supports innovation while ensuring entrepreneurs have access to resources required to build sustainable enterprises.

In his remarks, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture and Food Systems, Oluwarotimi Fashola, highlighted the transformation within the Agrinnovation community. He stressed that modern agribusiness now extends beyond traditional farming to include technology, innovation, and value addition.

Fashola praised the creativity and determination of young people redefining agriculture in Lagos, adding that platforms like Agrinnovation are critical in helping them scale their ideas into impactful ventures.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Emmanuel Audu, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to translating policies into tangible opportunities. He explained that ongoing collaborations with financial institutions and support agencies are aimed at improving access to funding, training, and infrastructure.

A representative of Sterling Bank Limited, Vera Ebhohon, provided insights into the bank’s role in supporting agribusiness growth. She outlined various financial and advisory opportunities available to young entrepreneurs and encouraged them to leverage these platforms to expand their ventures.

Similarly, Olufolake Ikupayi, representing the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund, shared guidance on accessing funding and business support services, as well as practical strategies for scaling agribusinesses within Lagos.

The event also attracted international attention, with participation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency survey team. Their presence underscores growing global interest in Lagos’ agribusiness sector and signals opportunities for international collaboration, knowledge exchange, and investment.

In her closing remarks, the Director for Agribusiness, Aramide Gansallo, expressed appreciation to participants and stakeholders for their contributions to the event’s success. She urged members to remain proactive, informed, and adaptable in navigating the evolving global business landscape.
