Zimbabwe President Elevates Son Sean Mnangagwa to Senior Army Rank |LAGOS EYE NEWS

Emmerson Mnangagwa has promoted his son, Sean Mnangagwa, from the rank of major to lieutenant colonel, making him one of the senior officers in the Zimbabwe National Army.

According to state media, Sean Mnangagwa was among nine officers elevated to the rank of lieutenant colonel on Wednesday.

He currently serves in the elite Presidential Guard and has recently been part of the president’s close security detail.

The promotion has sparked speculation among political observers, with some suggesting it may signal efforts by the president to consolidate his inner security circle.

The development comes amid ongoing tensions over succession and debate surrounding potential constitutional changes that could allow Mnangagwa to extend his tenure in office.
