2027: Hayatu-Deen Picks ADC’s ₦100m Presidential Nomination Form |LAGOS EYE NEWS

Former banker and presidential aspirant, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, has obtained the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential nomination form valued at ₦100 million ahead of the 2027 general election, formally signaling his entry into the party’s presidential race.

Hayatu-Deen, who has repeatedly expressed concern over Nigeria’s worsening insecurity and economic hardship, said his ambition is driven by the need to provide competent leadership capable of restoring stability and improving living conditions across the country.

The ADC had earlier announced its timetable for the 2027 elections, fixing the cost of its presidential nomination form at ₦100 million, with the party’s presidential primary scheduled for May 25, 2026.

The party said the high nomination fee reflects its determination to conduct a competitive and credible primary process as political alignments intensify ahead of the next election cycle.

Hayatu-Deen, a former Managing Director of FSB International Bank Plc and ex-Chairman of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG), recently declared his intention to contest on the ADC platform, describing the current state of the nation as unacceptable. He argued that Nigerians are grappling with rising inflation, insecurity, unemployment and declining purchasing power, insisting that the country requires experienced and visionary leadership.

The presidential hopeful has also received endorsements from several groups within the ADC. One of the support blocs, the ADC Vanguard Support Group, described him as a candidate without “political baggage” and praised his background in institution-building and economic management.

Hayatu-Deen’s entry further deepens the contest within the ADC, where several prominent opposition figures are reportedly positioning for the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 polls. Political observers believe the growing number of aspirants reflects the ADC’s emergence as a major platform for opposition realignments in the build-up to the election.

Under the timetable released by the party, screening of aspirants is expected to hold between May 14 and 15, while appeals and publication of cleared candidates will follow before the presidential primary later in May.
