“Dangerous Trend”- Adeleke Campaign Group Condemns Alleged APC-Linked Vandalism in Osun |LAGOS EYE NEWS

The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has condemned the alleged vandalism of campaign billboards belonging to the Imole Campaign and the ACCORD party across several parts of Osun State, describing the incidents as a dangerous trend capable of threatening democratic participation and political peace in the state.

In a statement issued on Friday by the spokesperson of the council, Pelumi Olajengbesi, the group alleged that campaign materials were destroyed in the early hours of the day in Irewole, Ayedaade, Ife, Irepodun, Oriade and Osogbo local government areas.

TICC alleged that the attacks were carried out by individuals linked to the Osun APC, claiming that the operation was coordinated by a suspected thug identified as “Asiri Eniba,” with alleged support from compromised security operatives.

The council described the development as “extremely dangerous,” warning that the political atmosphere in Osun State should not be allowed to degenerate into violence and intimidation.

According to the statement, the Osun APC, having allegedly failed to present a convincing alternative agenda to the people, had resorted to intimidation, destruction of opposition materials and fear tactics due to the growing popularity of Governor Ademola Adeleke across the state.

“This is not ordinary politics. This is a direct threat to democratic engagement, political freedom, and peaceful participation in the electoral process,” the statement read.

The group called on the Inspector General of Police to launch an immediate investigation into the incidents and ensure that all individuals involved, including alleged sponsors and collaborators, are brought to justice.

TICC also appealed to the international community, election observers, civil society organizations and human rights groups to monitor the political situation in Osun State and take note of what it described as increasing intimidation tactics by desperate political actors.

The council maintained that Osun State has remained peaceful and politically conscious, urging residents not to allow political violence or desperation to disrupt the state’s democratic culture.

The statement further reiterated that Governor Ademola Adeleke remains focused on governance, development and service delivery, insisting that no amount of intimidation would suppress the democratic will of the people.
