APC Governors Reaffirm Confidence in Uzodimma Amid Leadership Change Rumours |LAGOS EYE NEWS

Sixteen governors elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress have passed a vote of confidence in the chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, following rumours of an alleged leadership change within the forum.

Reports had emerged on Thursday night suggesting that some members of the forum had announced the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, as the new leader of the group.

However, speaking with journalists after a closed-door meeting held at the Imo State Governors’ Lodge in Abuja on Friday, the governors physically present at the meeting reaffirmed their support for Uzodimma’s leadership.

Governors at the meeting included those from Ondo, Gombe, Kaduna, Taraba, Edo, Sokoto, Ebonyi, Borno, Lagos, Kogi, Kano, Yobe, Kebbi, Benue, and Jigawa states, while Nasarawa State was represented by its deputy governor.

The Governor of Taraba State attended briefly before departing after a short meeting with the host governor.

Moving the motion for the vote of confidence, the Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, stated that Governor Uzodimma remains the chairman of the forum, while the Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, continues as deputy chairman.
