Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Christopher Gwabin Musa, has called for sustained national support for members of the Armed Forces, emphasizing the importance of prayers, unity, and collective responsibility in addressing the country’s security challenges.
The minister made the appeal on Tuesday while receiving Lazarus Muoka, General Overseer of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries, during a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
Speaking during the meeting, General Musa said the fight against insurgency, terrorism, banditry, and other criminal activities requires a whole-of-society approach. He noted that the prayers and encouragement from religious organizations have continued to strengthen the morale of troops deployed across various operational theatres in the country.
The defence minister commended Pastor Muoka and members of his church for their continued support and prayers for Nigeria’s security institutions. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Armed Forces to protecting the nation’s territorial integrity and ensuring the safety of citizens and their property.
Musa also urged religious leaders nationwide to promote peace, patriotism, unity, and national cohesion, stressing that faith-based organizations play a vital role in supporting government efforts to maintain security and stability.
In his remarks, Pastor Muoka pledged the church’s continued support for both the Armed Forces and the Federal Government. He offered prayers for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, asking for wisdom, strength, good health, and divine guidance in leading the country towards peace, stability, and economic growth.
The cleric also prayed for the safety and success of Nigerian troops in their operations, as well as lasting peace across the country.
The visit concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and a renewed commitment by both the Ministry of Defence and the Christian community to work together in promoting national peace, unity, and security.
