President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria and around the world on the commencement of the Islamic New Year, 1st Muharram 1448AH, which falls on June 16, 2026.
In a goodwill message marking the occasion, the President reflected on the significance of the Hijrah the migration of Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Madina which marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar.
President Tinubu noted that the enduring lessons of the Hijrah, including sacrifice, renewal, patience, and unwavering faith in Allah’s divine plan, remain essential to building a peaceful, just, and prosperous society.
He called on Nigerians, particularly members of the Muslim community, to embrace the spirit of the new Hijri year by recommitting themselves to the principles of good citizenship and national service.
The President also urged citizens to demonstrate kindness, tolerance, honesty, and dedication to duty, describing these values as vital to strengthening national unity, enhancing security, and promoting sustainable development.
President Tinubu prayed for blessings, peace, and prosperity for all households in the new Islamic year and expressed hope that Allah would continue to guide Nigeria on the path of progress and prosperity.
