The family of former Kaduna State Governor and former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, has demanded evidence from Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd.), over an allegation that the former governor planned killings in Southern Kaduna.
The family made the demand in a statement issued on Monday, signed by Hon. Mohammed Bello El-Rufai on behalf of the family.
El-Rufai, a former FCT minister and two-term governor of Kaduna State, is currently identified by the family as an Opposition Leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
According to the statement, General Musa made the allegation during a live edition of Politics Today on Channels Television on September 3, 2026.
The family described the allegation as “grave,” expressing concern that it was made without evidence to substantiate the claim.
While acknowledging the minister’s right to express his opinion, the family said it was equally entitled to demand credible evidence for such a serious accusation.
The statement read in part: “This grave allegation was made without the presentation of any evidence in support of the claim.”
The family consequently demanded that Musa either provide evidence supporting the allegation or publicly retract it through the same medium where it was made.
It gave the Minister of Defence seven days from the date of the statement to comply with either demand.
The family warned that failure to provide evidence or issue a full public retraction and apology would compel it to pursue “all appropriate legal remedies available under the law.”
