Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, have raided an alleged illegal juice production facility in Aradagun, Badagry, arresting two women in connection with the operation.
The raid was conducted on Monday, September 21, 2026, following intelligence on the alleged production and distribution of Barkas Juice at the facility.
The NSCDC Lagos State Command Public Relations Officer, SC Oluwaseun Abolurin, told CityMood that the identities of the two suspects were being withheld as investigations continued.
According to him, officers found already-packaged products at the facility, with some allegedly loaded into container vehicles for distribution to markets across Lagos.
Abolurin further alleged that juveniles aged between 15 and 16 were involved in activities at the facility.
Items reportedly recovered during the operation included sugar, water, adhesives, dyes and colourants, which the Corps said were being used in the production process.
However, one of the arrested women disputed the account, telling CityMood that the facility was established by her grandmother and had operated for almost 20 years before it was shut down following business challenges.
She said the family was in the process of renewing the facility’s registration with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), adding that production was only carried out about three or four times annually and based on customers’ orders.
The woman also said she owns a shop at Oke Arin Market in Lagos, while identifying a woman in Benin City as her major customer.
The NSCDC said investigations were ongoing and that the suspects would be prosecuted before a court of competent jurisdiction.
The Corps’ official website confirms that the NSCDC has a nationwide mandate covering community safety and enforcement-related operations.
