Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has reiterated the army’s commitment to restoring lasting peace and security across Plateau State and the wider country.
During a courtesy visit to Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang at the Government House in Jos on Tuesday, General Shaibu described the state as a key strategic partner and the home of the Nigerian Army’s Armoured Corps.
While acknowledging the complex security challenges facing Plateau State, the army chief said the threats can be overcome through sustained collaboration, intelligence sharing, and a unified effort by all stakeholders.
“The Nigerian Army will continue to deploy its personnel and resources professionally to mitigate security threats and ensure the protection of lives and property,” General Shaibu said. “With all hands on deck, lasting peace on the Plateau is achievable.”
Governor Mutfwang congratulated General Shaibu on his appointment as the 25th Chief of Army Staff and praised the Nigerian Army’s professionalism and sacrifices nationwide.
He also highlighted the role of troops under Operation ENDURING PEACE, noting that their efforts helped ensure peaceful Christmas and New Year celebrations in Plateau State.
The governor reaffirmed the state government’s support for both kinetic and non-kinetic military operations and urged continued collaboration to address remaining security concerns in some areas.
