Police Assure Safety Ahead of 2026 JAMB Examinations |LAGOS EYE NEWS

The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed circulating reports alleging insecurity at some examination centres in a North Central state ahead of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid, described the claims as unfounded, emphasizing that they do not act on rumors but have taken public concerns seriously, particularly regarding the safety of candidates.

According to the Force, enhanced security measures have been deployed nationwide to ensure a smooth examination process scheduled to begin on April 16. These measures include increased patrols, perimeter surveillance, and the positioning of rapid response teams at strategic locations across examination centres.

The police also confirmed ongoing collaboration with other security agencies to proactively monitor and respond to any potential threats. Authorities warned that individuals or groups attempting to disrupt the examination would be identified and prosecuted.

Reassuring candidates and parents, the NPF stated that adequate arrangements have been put in place to provide a safe and conducive environment for all participants. Candidates were advised to arrive early, comply with examination guidelines, and report any suspicious activity to security personnel.

The Force further urged the public to ignore unverified information on social media and rely only on official updates from relevant authorities.

He reaffirmed the police’s commitment to safeguarding national activities and maintaining public confidence in the examination process.
