The Lagos State House of Assembly has removed Barrister Olalekan Onafeko as Clerk of the House, citing the expiration of his tenure.
Speaker Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa announced the removal during plenary on Tuesday, describing the action as a routine transition following the conclusion of Onafeko’s term in office.

Onafeko had served as substantive Clerk since January 14, 2022, having previously acted in the capacity from September 29, 2020. His appointment to the full role followed the retirement of his predecessor, a vacancy with the then-Deputy Speaker, Hon. Wasiu Eshinlokun-Sanni, had said required urgent filling.
In the same session, Speaker Obasa announced the appointment of Adenike Osinowo as the new Clerk of the House.
In a related development, the Assembly confirmed Latifat Ogbara as Chairman of the Lagos State House of Assembly Service Commission (LAHASCOM). Remi Bello was also confirmed as a member of the Commission.
