Lagos Assembly Endorses Tinubu for Second Term |LAGOS EYE NEWS

All 40 members of the Lagos State House of Assembly have unanimously endorsed Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office, urging legislative bodies and political stakeholders nationwide to support his re-election bid.

The resolution was adopted during plenary on Tuesday following a motion moved by Hon. Ladi Ajomale, who represents Oshodi/Isolo Constituency II. Presenting the motion, Ajomale cited key achievements of the current administration over the past three years, emphasising the need for continuity to sustain ongoing reforms.

He highlighted initiatives such as the student loan scheme, the removal of fuel subsidy, and major infrastructure projects, including the Lagos Coastal Road, as milestones requiring consolidation in a second term.

Supporting the motion, Deputy Leader of the House, Hon. Richard Kasumu, noted improvements in Nigeria’s foreign reserves and pointed to a growing trade surplus as evidence of the administration’s economic policies.

Hon. Temitope Adedeji (Ifako-Ijaiye I) also commended the federal government for strengthening local government autonomy, describing it as a critical step toward enhancing grassroots governance.

Similarly, Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu (Eti-Osa II) praised reforms in the education sector, particularly the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which he said has reduced financial pressure on families and boosted youth access to education. He added that policies like the consumer credit scheme have contributed to microeconomic growth.

In her remarks, Deputy Speaker Hon. Mojisola Meranda lauded improvements in Nigeria’s global image and ongoing development initiatives, while also noting progress in addressing passport processing challenges.

Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, said the endorsement reflected the position of their constituents, expressing confidence in the president’s ability to sustain national development.

“We have no doubt about his ability to continue delivering on his mandate. In just three years, the administration has recorded notable progress, including improved foreign reserves and fuel availability,” Obasa said.

He further urged lawmakers to mobilize grassroots support for the president’s re-election, stressing that the call transcends partisan interests and is aimed at advancing national development.

The House subsequently adopted the motion, formally reaffirming its support for Tinubu’s second-term bid.
