Lagos Govt Probes Viral Video Over Unapproved Nursery Textbook |LAGOS EYE NEWS

The Lagos State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has launched an investigation following a viral video alleging inappropriate content in a nursery school English language textbook.

The video, shared on social media by a concerned parent, raised questions about the suitability of learning materials being used for young pupils. In response, the Honourable Commissioner for the Ministry, Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun, ordered an immediate probe into the matter.

According to preliminary findings, the textbook featured in the video is not among those reviewed, approved, or recommended by the Lagos State Government for use in public or approved private schools.

Authorities also indicated that the school involved is located within the Ojo Local Government Area.

Officials confirmed that both the school and the publisher of the textbook have been identified and are currently under further investigation, with appropriate regulatory actions expected.

The Ministry reiterated its commitment to maintaining high standards in educational materials, stressing that all approved resources must be age-appropriate, morally sound, and aligned with the state’s educational values.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Abisola Dokunmu-Adegbite, emphasized that only government-approved textbooks are permitted in schools.

She urged school administrators, proprietors, and teachers to strictly comply with official guidelines to protect the academic and moral development of pupils.

The government reassured the public of its continued commitment to delivering quality foundational education across the state.
