The Nigerian entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following reports that popular Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo has allegedly passed away after battling kidney cancer.
According to sources within Nollywood, the actor was rushed to a hospital on Monday after his health condition reportedly worsened.
The heartbreaking development was announced on Tuesday evening by talent manager and filmmaker Sam Olatunji, who confirmed the news in a Facebook post.
“Breaking News: Popular Nigeria Actor ‘ALEX EKUBO’ is Dead!!!!!!” he wrote.
In another post, he added, “Prayers up to the EKUBO family.”
A source close to the situation also confirmed that the actor reportedly died after a long battle with cancer.
Known for his charming personality, comic timing and versatility on screen, Ekubo had been noticeably absent from the public scene for several months, raising concerns among fans and colleagues in the entertainment industry.
The actor’s last known social media activity was reportedly in 2024, fueling widespread speculation about his health and whereabouts.
Fans had repeatedly questioned his sudden disappearance from movies, public appearances and online engagements.
