“I Wanted More Followers” – Ogun Tailor Begs for Forgiveness After Staging Fake Bandit Attack |LAGOS EYE NEWS

A young man identified as a tailor in Atan area of Ogun State has reportedly been arrested by the Nigerian Police after allegedly staging a fake bandit attack in a bid to gain attention and followers on TikTok.

In a viral video making rounds online, the suspect was seen at a police station pleading for forgiveness over the incident.

According to him, the fake attack was created purely for social media engagement.

“I raised a fake bandits attack just to gain TikTok followers. Please forgive me. My Ileya customers’ clothes are still in my shop,” he said while begging.

The incident has triggered widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians condemning the act and describing it as irresponsible, especially at a time when insecurity remains a major concern across parts of the country.

Several social media users also warned against spreading false panic and misinformation online for clout, stressing that such actions could create unnecessary fear among residents and distract security agencies from real emergencies.
