The Federal Ministry of Education has partnered with the Government of Japan, UNESCO and the Pan African University to launch a technology-driven initiative aimed at empowering female teachers and school leaders across Nigeria.
The approximately $1 million Japan-funded project is designed to tackle challenges associated with distance, connectivity and time by promoting mobile-based learning and continuous professional development for educators.
As part of the initiative, digital learning devices will be distributed to teachers and school leaders to enhance teaching effectiveness, bridge learning gaps and strengthen the education sector through the use of technology.
The project is expected to benefit about 2,000 teachers across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, with a strong focus on expanding access to mobile learning platforms and improving opportunities for continuous professional development.
The initiative also seeks to promote a more inclusive and equitable education system by equipping educators with modern digital tools to improve learning outcomes and unlock their full potential.
