A member of the House of Representatives representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency, Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, has announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and defection to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The lawmaker disclosed that his resignation letter was formally announced during plenary by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.

El-Rufai said he would seek re-election on the platform of the ADC to continue representing the people of Kaduna North Federal Constituency.

According to him, two other lawmakers Suleiman Richifa and Umar Ajilo also joined the ADC after leaving their former political parties.

He described the move as part of efforts to build “a home for progressive, people-focused service.”

The Kaduna lawmaker stated that the decision to leave the APC was made after careful consideration, adding that he remained committed to delivering quality representation to his constituents.

El-Rufai, who is the Chairman of the House Committee on Banking Regulations, also announced plans to inaugurate an ad hoc committee for a Primary Health Care initiative unveiled last week.

He explained that the programme would involve the distribution of medical supplies to Primary Health Care Centres, beginning with 1,000 syringes and other essential items per centre.

According to him, the first phase of the initiative will commence in Unguwar Sarki Ward and Badarawa/Malali Ward in Kaduna State.

He prayed for divine guidance in serving the people and for Nigeria to be blessed with good leadership.
