Tragedy has struck the Ahoro-Esinele community in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State following reports that one of the teachers abducted during the invasion of Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele, has been killed by bandits.
The deceased teacher, identified as Michael Oyedokun, was among those kidnapped when armed men attacked the school community in a recent raid that threw residents into panic and heightened security concerns across the area.
Sources disclosed that the abductors on Saturday released disturbing video clips showing the kidnapped victims, including the late Mathematics teacher, sparking outrage and deep anxiety among relatives, colleagues, and community members awaiting the safe return of the remaining captives.
According to reports, the video was allegedly released by the kidnappers in an attempt to intimidate security operatives said to be closing in on their hideout. Local sources claimed the criminals’ camp had been surrounded by security personnel during ongoing rescue efforts.
There were also allegations that the attackers were Fulani bandits operating from neighboring Kwara State with the support of local collaborators, although security authorities have yet to officially confirm the claim.
Meanwhile, tension continues to mount in Ogbomoso as teachers staged a protest on Monday, demanding the immediate release of their abducted colleagues and pupils.
LAGOS EYE NEWS gathered that the protesters called on both the Oyo State Government and security agencies to intensify rescue operations and improve security around schools and rural communities to prevent further attacks.
