Residents of Eti-Osa Constituency II on Sunday staged a massive solidarity walk in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the lawmaker representing the constituency in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Gbolahan Yishawu, ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries scheduled for May 20, 2026.
The walk, tagged “I Stand with President Bola Tinubu and GOY,” lasted for over two hours and drew a large crowd of supporters across the constituency.
Speaking after the event, Yishawu thanked residents for their support and solidarity for the President’s continuity in office and for his own political ambition.
“I want to thank you on behalf of the President for this solidarity work for his continuity in government. I am very humbled by your support for me,” he said.
The lawmaker urged party members and supporters to come out en masse for the Lagos Assembly primaries on Wednesday, stressing the importance of participating in the voting process.
“On Wednesday, you must wait to cast your vote and we must come out on that day,” he said. Yishawu described the solidarity walk as a demonstration of support for the presidency and the development of the constituency.
“What I see they’ve done today is to show their support for the presidency of our country. I’m fortunate and hopeful to also be made part of it by them asking that I continue in office because that is the people’s choice,” he stated.
He added that he would continue to serve the people diligently if re-elected.
“It’s their voice, their vote and their mandate. If they can give it to me, I’ll be very happy, and I promise that I will serve them even better than what I’ve done so far,” Yishawu said.
Recall that the primary election for aspirants contesting Lagos State House of Assembly seats is scheduled to hold nationwide on May 20, 2026.
Residents who participated in the walk also expressed support for both Tinubu and Yishawu, citing their impact at the grassroots and federal levels.
Mrs. Olusola Adeshina described the walk as significant in the political history of Eti-Osa Constituency II.
Another resident, Durojaiye Adetimi, described the event as a unity and solidarity walk for both leaders.
“The duo have impacted the people both at the grassroots and federal level. Yishawu has done well in the area of welfare,” he said.
Also speaking, Mr. Taiwo Afinni described Yishawu as “a fantastic man” who has positively impacted lives in the constituency.

“Our Assembly representative will never play games. He works accordingly and does his job as expected,” he stated.
Halima Bawa, another resident, said the turnout at the rally showed that Yishawu enjoys massive support among constituents.
“We have not seen any politician doing what he’s doing. He is one of the reasons I joined politics. He is the right man for the job and we are behind him fully,” she said.
Bawa added that Yishawu’s empowerment initiatives and skill acquisition programmes had positively affected many residents in the constituency.
