Former Minister of Power, Mamman Saleh.


The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested former Minister of Power, Mamman Saleh.

The ex-minister was reportedly taken into custody in the Rigasa area of Kaduna State.

According to the EFCC, Mamman was apprehended in Rigasa area of Kaduna State.

Confirming this development to newsmen, EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, said the former minister was previously convicted and sentenced in absentia to 75 years imprisonment for stealing public funds totalling about ₦33.8 billion.

LAGOS EYE NEWS reports that the residence where the arrest took place is also under investigation by the anti-graft agency.

Saleh Mamman served as Nigeria’s Minister of Power under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari from August 2019 to September 2021.

He was sworn in by President Muhammadu Buhari on 21 August 2019 after being nominated by Buhari and confirmed by the Senate.

On 1 September 2021, Mamman was sacked by Buhari and replaced by Minister of State for Works and Housing, Abubakar Aliyu.
