Lagos Assembly Speaker Obasa Declares Interest in House of Reps Seat |LAGOS EYE NEWS

The Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has officially declared his intention to contest for the Agege Federal House of Representatives seat ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries.

Obasa made the declaration during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Agege on Tuesday, stating that leaders of the APC in Agege had urged him to contest for the position at the House of Representatives of Nigeria.

Speaking at the meeting, Obasa also appealed to APC members to support the aspirations of the immediate past Chairman of Agege Local Government Council, Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi, who is seeking to represent Agege Constituency I at the Lagos State House of Assembly.

He equally endorsed Azeez Oladapo Yusuf Ninolowo, who is aspiring to represent Agege Constituency II in the Lagos Assembly.

The declaration adds to the growing number of aspirants seeking the APC ticket for various elective positions in Agege ahead of the party primaries.

According to Obasa, several aspirants have continued to mobilise their loyalists, supporters and constituents to participate actively in the primaries and vote for their preferred candidates.

LAGOS EYE NEWS reports that the outcome of the screening exercise conducted by both the state and national APC secretariats will determine the aspirants cleared to participate in the primaries.

Recall that Obasa had initially explored the possibility of contesting for the Lagos West Senatorial seat currently occupied by Idiat Adebule.

However, the move reportedly faced resistance from party stakeholders and supporters of the senator, who argued that Adebule remains one of the most influential female political figures in the Lagos West Senatorial District.
