Ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Lagos State House of Assembly, the aspiration of Barr. Barakat Odunuga-Bakare for Surulere Constituency I received a major boost as five other aspirants withdrew from the race and endorsed her candidacy.

The aspirants who declared support for Odunuga-Bakare include Hon. Dipo Jaji, Hon. Adeniyi Afolaolajuwon, Hon. Biyi Attoyebi, and Hon. Afeez Odunewu, among others.

The endorsements were announced during the official declaration and unveiling of Odunuga-Bakare’s agenda held at The Staple on Bode Thomas Street, Surulere.

Speaking at the event, the aspirants said their decision to support Odunuga-Bakare was based on their confidence in her ability to provide quality representation for the constituency.

They also urged their supporters and party loyalists to vote massively for her during the forthcoming APC primary election.

Member representing Surulere Federal Constituency I in the House of Representatives, Hon. Fuad Kayode Laguda, has called on APC members in the constituency to unite behind Barr. Barakat Odunuga-Bakare ahead of Wednesday’s Lagos State House of Assembly primaries.

Laguda, who recently emerged unopposed in his own primary election, made the appeal while addressing party faithful at the gathering in Surulere.

The federal lawmaker also appealed to electoral officials to ensure early arrival at polling wards, noting that the exercise would hold on a working day.

According to him, the growing support from political stakeholders and party leaders positions the APC strongly for victory in the 2027 general election.

Barr. Barakat Odunuga-Bakare has expressed appreciation to APC members and supporters for the overwhelming show of support for her aspiration to represent Surulere Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Speaking during her official declaration event in Surulere, the former Special Adviser to the Governor and former Leader of the Surulere Local Government Legislative House described the large turnout as a sign of victory ahead of the party primaries.

She assured residents of effective and quality representation, promising to deliver on her campaign commitments if elected.

Odunuga-Bakare also thanked the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, for his mentorship and support over the years, noting that she possesses significant experience within the political system.

The race for the APC ticket in Surulere Constituency I is now shaping into a keen contest between incumbent lawmaker Hon. Desmond Olushola Elliott, who is seeking a fourth term, and Barr. Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, who is campaigning on a promise of fresh representation in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
