Several passengers were injured on Monday morning after a speeding vehicle crashed into two commercial tricycles at the Federal Bus Stop along Ipaja Road in Lagos.
Eyewitnesses said the female driver of a Honda vehicle with registration number KTU 921 JY was allegedly speeding when she attempted to avoid a street sweeper working along the road for the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA).
According to reports, the vehicle struck the sweeper before losing control, veering into the opposite lane and colliding with two commercial tricycles.
The crash reportedly left about 10 passengers with varying degrees of injuries. While some victims sustained serious wounds, others suffered minor injuries.
The injured passengers were initially taken to a nearby private hospital for emergency treatment before some were later transferred to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, for further medical attention.
As at the time of filing the story, the security and emergency responders, including police officers from the Gowon Divisional Headquarters, officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), and neighbourhood watch personnel, were deployed to the scene to manage traffic and coordinate rescue efforts.
