Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Mushin Constituency 1 on Wednesday delivered an overwhelming show of support for Hon. Prince Nureni Akinsanya, popularly known as OSMAK, at the Lagos State House of Assembly primary election, as the lawmaker swept polling units across the constituency amid scenes of mass mobilisation.
Party faithful turned out in impressive numbers across all designated wards including Ward B1 at St. Martin’s Primary School, Damengoro; Ward A1 at Kajola Health Centre, Fadeyi; Ward A2 at 24 Adegbite Street, Idi-Oro; Ward B2 at Nusaraudeen Primary School, Ayantuga; Ward C1 at 1 Olajubu Street, Ilupeju; Ward C2 at 110 Olateju Street, Vono; Ward C3 at Majolate Primary School, Onipanu; and Ward L at Ilupeju Senior Secondary School, Esther Osiyemi Street, Ilupeju.
From as early as 9:00am, supporters had gathered at polling venues in orderly fashion, expressing confidence in the process and their preferred candidate. Many cited Akinsanya’s consistency, accessibility and sustained commitment to the development of Mushin Constituency 1 as the basis for their choice.
When voting commenced at 1:30pm, the contrast in support was stark. The overwhelming majority of party members aligned themselves firmly behind Akinsanya, while only seven persons stood with the second aspirant, Bunmi Orekoya.
Speaking to journalists at Ward B1 after the exercise, a visibly elated Akinsanya described the outpouring of support as both a mandate and a personal milestone.
“The support of the people is commendable it is a message for me to do more. I really cherish these votes because this is a birthday gift from my people. Yesterday was my birthday, and it gave me joy that my people are solidly behind me,” he said
He further praised the conduct of the exercise, describing it as peaceful and orderly, and noting that party members were determined to make their voices heard through the ballot.
The outcome is expected to significantly shape APC’s representation in Mushin Constituency 1 heading into the 2027 general elections.
