The leadership of The Sacred Cherubim and Seraphim Church Worldwide has directed all its parishes to suspend vigil programmes indefinitely due to growing security concerns across the country.
In a statement issued by the Acting Secretary General, Elder Apostle (Pastor) A.O. Adeeko, the church said the directive was given by Baba Alakoso Imole II and Emeritus Supreme Head, His Most Eminence, Most Elder Apostle Solomon Adegboyega Alao, JPil.
According to the statement, the decision was prompted by the worsening insecurity situation in Nigeria, particularly the increasing attacks by terrorists and criminal elements targeting schools and places of worship.
The Emeritus Supreme Head advised that no district, parish, or branch of the church should organise or participate in vigil services until further notice, stressing the need to prioritize the safety of members and church communities.
He urged all District and Parish Heads to comply fully with the directive in the interest of both individual members and the church as a whole.
The church leader also offered prayers for divine protection, expressing hope that no member of the church would fall victim to banditry, kidnapping, or other security threats.
The statement concluded with a call for understanding and cooperation from all church leaders and members as the church continues to monitor the security situation.
