The Ondo State Government has dismissed reports circulating on social media and messaging platforms alleging that a kidnapping incident occurred in a school within Akure metropolis.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ebenezer Adeniyan, described the reports as false and misleading, stressing that no case of kidnapping has been recorded in any primary, secondary, or tertiary institution in the state capital.
According to the government, all schools in Akure remain safe and are carrying out academic activities without any disruption.
The statement noted that security agencies, including the Police, Amotekun Corps, and the Department of State Services (DSS), had conducted verifications across school environments in Akure and confirmed that the situation remains normal.
The government further stated that it has continued to work closely with school authorities and parents to maintain strict security measures aimed at safeguarding pupils, students, and teachers.
It urged members of the public, particularly parents and guardians, to disregard the rumour and avoid sharing unverified information capable of causing unnecessary panic and anxiety.
“The safety of our children and teachers remains a top priority for the Aiyedatiwa administration,” the statement said.
The government also encouraged residents with genuine security concerns to report directly to the nearest Police or Amotekun station for prompt attention.
