Operatives of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) have carried out an enforcement operation in the Gbagada area of Lagos, targeting illegal trading activities and indiscriminate waste disposal.
The operation, conducted on Friday was led by LAWMA’s Waste Investigation, Surveillance and Enforcement team. Officials dislodged traders operating in unauthorized locations whose activities were said to constitute environmental nuisance and contribute to improper waste dumping.
According to LAWMA, the exercise forms part of ongoing efforts to restore order across the state, protect public health, and maintain a cleaner environment.
The agency reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on environmental abuse and illegal trading, warning that such practices would not be allowed to persist.
Residents and traders were urged to adhere strictly to environmental regulations by disposing of waste appropriately and patronising designated Private Sector Participant (PSP) operators approved by the state.
